July and August bring afternoon storms to the San Juans. A round that starts dry may end in rain.
A wet grip is slippery. A corded or textured grip helps, and so does carrying a towel and a dry glove in a plastic bag.
What to do
If your grips are smooth and worn, replace them before the monsoon. If you cannot, carry a spare glove.
A new grip costs less than a lost shot.
