On a June evening I walked nine holes at Hillcrest with seven clubs and a bag that weighed eleven pounds.
The first thing I noticed was how much I enjoyed it. The second was how few clubs I used. A driver, a three wood, a six iron, a nine iron, a gap wedge, a sand wedge and a putter were enough for the whole round.
What it taught me
Most golfers carry more than they use. A shorter bag makes the round faster and your back happier.
